Dr. Sanjay Rajagopalan is Professor of Medicine and Radiology at the Ohio State University, Columbus OH, where he also directs the section of Vascular Medicine and the Cardiovascular CT/MR Program. He also serves as an Associate Director for Vascular Research at the Davis Heart Lung Research Institute (DHLRI) at Ohio State University. Dr. Rajagopalan completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo where he was also Chief Resident in Internal Medicine. He subsequently finished a research fellowship in Vascular Biology at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Dr. Rajagopalan completed his clinical cardiology training at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals and advanced MRI fellowships at Duke and Cornell Universities. Dr Rajagopalan was awarded the American College of Cardiology’s, William F Keating Award for excellence in Hypertension and Vascular Diseases Research in 2001 and the Wolfe Professorship at the Ohio State University in 2006. He is currently a member of the Clinical Cardiovascular Science (CCVS) study section of the National Institutes of Health and is reviewer for journals such as Circulation, Hypertension and Vascular Medicine. Dr Rajagopalan has funding support from the NIEHS and the NHLBI.

Clinical Interests
Dr Rajagopalan’s clinical interests are in the area of atherosclerosis and peripheral arterial disease. He is also interested in advanced imaging modalities such as MRI and CT for the diagnosis of atherosclerotic vascular disease and its complications.
Research Interests
Dr Rajagopalan has been interested in how risk factors including chronic diseases such as hypertension and atherosclerosis modulate vascular tone and thereby alter arterial function and cardiovascular risk. The major focus in this area has been in the area of free radical stress and eNOS regulation. Some of these findings have been published in journals such as Journal of Clinical Investigation, Circulation, JAMA and Blood.
