Our vision
Creating a center for excellence in patient care, education and research.
Leadership in providing outstanding personalized and comprehensive patient care, in conducting innovative research that will advance clinical management, and in training and education of professionals in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology.
Patient care
We provide in-patient and consultative units for hospitalized patients, and procedural services at an endoscopy suite located at the University Medical Center.
Outpatients are seen at the OSU Medical Center and at suburban offices. In addition, procedures can be scheduled at a surburban ambulatory surgery center at Stoneridge Internal Medicine.
The hepatology section provides specialized expertise in the management of liver cancers and end-stage liver disease and works in an integral fashion with the Liver Transplant service, the only one in central Ohio.
Research
Faculty members in the Division play a leadership role in laboratory-based and translational research in liver diseases and especially in liver cancers. Researchers in the division are associated with the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute.
Other areas of special interest include GI hormones, pancreaticobiliary tract disease, acid peptic disease and small bowel transport mechanisms.
Clinical research training fellowships are available for physicians who wish to develop specialized clinical skills as well as obtain investigative experience in gastrointestinal diseases.
