Clinical Quality Improvement
The division is working to apply the concepts of continuous quality improvement (CQI) in our clinical areas. Our goal is to provide the safest and most effective care possible. We are also focusing our energy on developing innovative means of delivering health care like electronic patient communication over the web. By making continuous improvement part of our culture, we hope to inspire other faculty and trainees to embrace CQI and population management as a new professional responsibility.
Our efforts in quality improvement are supported by the large number of faculty who have been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for providing high quality diabetic care. In 2007, ten of our faculty were awarded in NCQA’s Diabetes Physician Recognition Program (DPRP). In addition, our clinics are currently in the process if implementing an electronic health record that will streamline our effort in improving health care for our patients. The challenges for Primary Care remain daunting, but the opportunities to improve are tangible and attainable.
