Medicine-Pediatrics

Pediatrics is a medical specialty concerned entirely with providing the best possible evidence-based medical care to infants, children, and adolescents.  Pediatricians act also as a family's best first source of information on normal development, on detection and early treatment of medical and behavioral problems in childhood and adolescence, and on preventive care in childhood. At the local, state, and national levels, pediatricians advocate for social and legal protections to increase the quality of children's lives. 

Pediatricians are trained to provide up-to-date and relevant information on vaccines and side effects, on nutrition and growth, on family dynamics and school problems, and on a host of other issues that may be problematic to parents and children.  They serve as a family's link to the many medical subspecialties and services offered at Nationwide Children's Hospital and throughout the nation.  A pediatrician is a valuable ally to families as they sort through the wide variety of parenting, medical, and educational advice available to today's parents and children. 

Internal medicine/pediatrics trained physicians have completed dual board certification requirements and are fully credentialed to care for both adult and pediatric patients.
