Dr. Nunley is a NetWellness expert in lung and respiratory diseases as well as lung transplantationNetWellness is an unbiased, non-profit consumer health information service delivered on the Web through the collaborative efforts of the University of Cincinnati, The Ohio State University, and Case Western Reserve University.  Since 1995, NetWellness’ mission has been to provide the highest quality health information and education to meet the growing trend of the public to use the Internet for medical and health information.  Health care professionals, including physicians, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, dentists, genetic counselors, optometrists, psychologists, psychiatrists, physical therapists, speech and hearing therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and social workers answer consumer questions and provide current health information.

 

Biosketch
Dr. David Nunley matriculated from the Marshall University School of Medicine in 1985 and completed his residency training in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky.  He then completed a fellowship in adult Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin before attending the University of Pittsburgh to complete a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine.  In 1993 while at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Nunley began his work in lung transplantation and was awarded a two-year National Research Service Award Fellowship to study transplant immunology.

To date, he has authored over a dozen articles on the subject of lung transplantation and is an active member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant, the American Thoracic Society, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He has also been awarded Fellowship in the American College of Chest Physician and is recognized by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) as having special expertise in Transplant Pulmonology.

Following appointments at both the University of Pittsburgh and Emory University in Atlanta, Dr. Nunley presently holds an appointment as Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at The Ohio State University.   He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine.  His special interests include the critical care management of solid organ transplant patients and lung transplantation for septic pulmonary disorders.
