Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a multidisciplinary program directed towards patients with pulmonary diseases with the goal of improving and maintaining patients' functional status, physical and psychological sense of well-being and quality of life. A rehabilitation program has been shown to improve a patients' sensation of dyspnea, endurance, exercise tolerance, strength and functional status. In addition, these patients often have improved utilization of healthcare resources.

Many patients may benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation, in particular patients with COPD, cystic fibrosis, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, neuromuscular disorders and thoracic cage abnormalities. Patients with marginal pulmonary function who are being considered for pulmonary nodule resection or lung cancer surgery often benefit from an accelerated version of the pulmonary rehabilitation program.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is located at the Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza at   2050 Kenny Road and is staffed by Phillip T. Diaz, MD, Maria Lucarelli, MD and Michael Ezzie, MD. The program also includes respiratory therapists, physcial and occupational therapists, psychologists and nutritionists.
